INDIGENOUS SKILLS EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING (ISET) PROGRAM
MANDATE

To assist First Nation’s people living on reserve and within the geographical area of Montney Riverstone Tribal Council prepare for, find and maintain employment in a manner that communicates respect for the culture as well as the economic and community development of First Nations people.

To ensure Montney Riverstone Tribal Council’s First Nation members overcome employment barriers and achieve their career goals.
OBJECTIVES

Each of the two First Nations that make up the Montney Riverstone Tribal Council provide and give assistance to members in achieving the training, education or employment maintenance services they need to meet requirements for employment.

MRTC works closely with each Nation to provide assistance, advice, technical support in any way that will assist the communities to reach their goals and objectives identified at local level.

MRTC ISET monitors, reports, evaluates to ensure that the allocated funding is used for the outlined intended pursuit.
SERVICE DELIVERY
Under the ISET Program all agreement holders must provide the minimum level of service to all Aboriginal clients (HLFN, & DFN to members on reserve. MRTC urban office provides services to off Reserve clients).

Members can receive information on services available by telephone or walk in (in-person) Monday to Friday.

In the event that the First Nation ISET Coordinator is not available the client will be able to make an appointment

Clients will have computer access for job search, resume writing, cover letters, etc.
SERVICE DELIVERY STANDARDS

Our employment counselling services will be delivered in a manner that conveys:

Respect for the dignity of each client,
-
Sensitivity to all First Nation cultural values,
-
Acknowledgement of background issues, especially those underlying discrimination,

Advocacy for our clients, especially those who are disadvantaged.

If you live on reserve, please go to your ISET office as they do have Application Forms of their own. This Application is for the urban office clients. The Urban Office, in Grande Prairie, serves clients who live off-reserve and live within the geographical boundaries of MRTC. When applying for funding, please contact the urban office as additional documentation is required depending on the funding requested.
